several million people? German artist Karin Sander is asking over 200 New Yorkers to pick a word from their native language that has personal associations or is especially typical of their culture. Each new word will become a part of a
global sculpture in words. For it is precisely this intermingling of so many different languages and cultures that makes New York City the capital of the world.
